Screen Printing

The best way of printing onto clothing is screen printing. Screen printing is ideal for large designs onto T-shirts & sweatshirts.

The process:

WATER BASE

Special ink formulated by GALAXY DESIGN to remove APEO's. APEO's are short got Alkyl Phenols Ethoxylates & Organotins. WE have specially formulated pigments and pigments dispersions that have removed all banned and future-banned substances. We also have a unique product that allow to print WATER BASE inks on dark garments. What this means to you is that you get the very brdy quality garment that will not fade and you help preserve our fragile enviroment.

ENVIROMENTAL & HEALTH BENEFITS

90% of all garment printing is done with Plastisol ink. Plastisol ink contain PVC's (poly vinyl chlorides) which do not biodegrate. Therefore they do not breakdown, and they clog our land fill sites forever. Also, in the production of Plastisol, phthalates are used in softening PVC's.

Phthalates are toxic to the female reproductive process. In washing, phthalates can enter into the water treatment plants. They can also enter into the enviroment via sewage sludge. Phthalates are recognized as one of the most abundant man-made environmental contaminants. They have been banned from use in children's toys.

Organotins are another toxic chemical used as stabilizer in PVC's. Organotins have been found to have immunotoxic properties.

Lead is also used as a stabilizer on PVC's. The impact of lead in developing nervous system of children are of rxtreme concern, and can result in a permanent decrease in IQ.

Water Base ink is 100% free of the above components

Screen printed garments wash well, and should not be confused with heat transfer printing which does not look as good or last so well. Many t-shirt printing shops use this cheaper method rather than screen printing.

CONS - not economical for small orders requiring more than one colour design
